Zilliqa 2.0 is about fixing crypto UX for non-crypto natives – AMA recap

Sep 26, 2024 2 min read

In a recent AMA session on Twitter spaces, Tom Fleetham, Head of Business Development at Zilliqa, shared insights into the platform’s exciting advancements, from improving user experience with gasless transactions and biometric wallets to tokenizing real-world assets like racehorses. He also discussed Zilliqa’s partnership with EMURGO, and how Zilliqa 2.0 makes life easier for developers.

Here are the key takeaways from the AMA.

John from LetsExchange: What excites you most about Zilliqa 2.0 and how it will impact the crypto space?

Tom: Zilliqa 2.0 is all about fixing crypto UX for non-crypto natives. What excites me the most is how it simplifies the user experience by eliminating private keys and centralized exchanges. Through account abstraction, we're introducing features like biometrics and gasless transactions. This will drop the friction that prevents users from enjoying crypto apps, making it easier for the average person to adopt and engage with crypto.

John from LetsExchange: Zilliqa Group has recently announced a partnership with EMURGO. Can you tell us more about how this partnership benefits both ecosystems?

Tom: Absolutely. The partnership with EMURGO is centered around interoperability. We're working on a project that will allow seamless communication between both blockchains. Zilliqa users will have the chance to explore Cardano apps and vice versa. We're also looking to boost liquidity in Zilliqa’s DeFi protocols through Cardano's stablecoins. This collaboration is a great example of how different chains can work together instead of competing.

John from LetsExchange: You mentioned real-world assets like racehorses being tokenized on Zilliqa. Can you tell us more about how this works and what’s next?

Tom: Yes, we've already started working on tokenizing ownership of racehorses through a project called Winner’s Circle. You can buy fractional shares in racehorses using tokens. This is just the beginning – our partnership with Brilliant aims to expand this concept to other real-world assets like classic cars. We're starting with fun markets and plan to grow into larger, more commercial assets in the future.

John from LetsExchange: How does Zilliqa 2.0 make life easier for developers?

Tom: Zilliqa 2.0 introduces many exciting features for developers. One of the key updates is the customizable X-shards, which allow different apps to have different security, privacy, and gas settings, all on the same chain. This flexibility is a game-changer, especially for developers working on a range of applications like DeFi or gaming, where the needs are vastly different. Plus, with EVM compatibility and enhanced tooling, it’s easier than ever for developers to build on Zilliqa. These are just the main highlights of the AMA session.
